Two little wagons…

I sat down and drew up a wagon body to suit the Aust-N-Rail NSWGR ‘K’ truck chassis some time ago – the I/IA wagon, a smaller, all-steel counterpart to the Victorian ‘GY’ (incidentally, this uses the same chassis moulding as the ‘K’ and VR ‘B’ van, with an extra few parts applied). These Aust-N-Rail chassis have proven to be a wonderful contribution to the Australian model railway industry – high precision, excellent running qualities and fine detail.

The ‘success’ of this item has led to an even more widespread and popular item, a bodyshell and small components to produce most of the variations on the VR ‘GH’ grain hopper. The prototype was a tedious rebuild of old GY open wagons, with two different styles of top filler hatches and two styles of dump doors underneath, along with miscellanous differing details of ladders and handrails.

Each wagon has had around 12 hours’ drafting applied.
